I’m inspired to write my first blog tonight after meeting Gina Milicia at an AIPP Event called “Being Live Wired and Connected”
My favourite analogy was her one of caring for your social media like a garden. Planting the seed. Watering it, add a little fertiliser! The key take home was doing it consistently. So here I am, planting a seed, my challenge starts tonight. I am going to blog at least 3 times a week and plant my social media garden.
Gina Milicia is an incredible portrait photographer and an inspirational speaker. She was honest, informative, funny, vulnerable, and most of all authentic! She is truely a one of a kind who has so much to offer to other photographers and business owners.
I challenge those of you out there in business to do the same. Set a reminder in your phone as I have just done to blog about your world. Be authentic. I know I have struggled to get started blogging, Yvonne Adele also recommended the benefits at the recent “Be the Difference” conference. Yet still I have difficulties with the idea that I have anything interesting to say. How many of you out there are struggling with the same block and haven’t started blogging?
Tonight I let go of the fear of what other people think. Gina quoted Brené Brown and I paraphrase “Ridicule and the risk of being criticised is the tax we pay for living a life out loud.”
My other favourite quote from Brené Brown is “Let go of who you think you’re supposed to be and embrace who you are”
I live (yes live) to photograph people. I am energised by connecting with people and telling their story with images.
In order to grow, we need to share our journey.
